5TH ST. TROPEZ
St. Tropez attracted artistic and extravagant interest long before Brigitte Bardot's time. The pointilist Paul Signac introduced them from the late 19th century and in the 1940s and 1950s the village was a summer extension of Paris' Left Bank: Juliette Greco, Boris Vian, Sartre and Picasso. Then Bardot appeared in And God Created Woman, turning localized libertinism into a worldwide reputation for illicit pleasure.
