T he fans made of paper, skimpy dresses and sunglasses became the indispensable “survival kit” during Berlin Fashion Week in July. These lifesaver accessories weren't able to do much against the tropical heat. But there were a few selected oases of coolness , such as the must-attend event Der Berliner Mode Salon , in whose elegant and stimulating setting around 36 designers and labels presented themselves this time.
With ice-cold drinks and in a relaxed atmosphere, the fashion crowd in the Kronprinzenpalais was able to cool down to room temperature and marvel at the designs of selected representatives of the German fashion scene . Andrea Karg and the Allude team also traveled to the capital once again (see the presentations for summer 2017 and the fall/winter 2017/2018 season here).
The wonderful weather was almost perfect for an artistic staging of the Resort Collection 2018 on the terrace of the magnificent building. In the middle of a kind of construction site with scaffolding and tailor busts partly covered in plastic, the maritime influences of the Allude designs were immediately noticeable. Blue and white as well as striped patterns dominated, as well as a subtle play with volume, for example with bell sleeves versus figure-hugging cuts. The definite highlight: a knitted jumper dipped in the colors of the US flag with the word “Love” written on it. In view of a very tense world politics, an appeal that is as contemporary as it is appropriate.
Even after the group exhibition, Der Berliner Mode Salon was not over yet, many makers and visitors let the afternoon end on the lawn of the inner courtyard with small talk and networking conversations. After all, fashion is art and business at the same time.
