T he bad conscience is part of the enjoyment of Hazel Zakariya's creations. Not because one would have sinned with four-digit calorie numbers, but because real consumption art is created in her kitchen. The native Malaysian, who now lives in New Zealand, uses only high-quality ingredients such as spirulina, coconut water, berries and fruit puree for her smoothie bowls. And then something magical happens.
Zakariya doesn't just fill the bowl with it. Instead, the great deal of finesse, a knife and skewers crafts real food art . A big-eyed fawn or Frida Kahlo from the smoothie will look at you. The industry analyst has even immortalized the famous dance scene from the Oscar-winning film musical “La-La-Land” – with a mix of cocoa powder, almond milk and bananas. Her trick is powdered superfoods, with which Hazel Zakariya paints almost like oil or watercolor paint.
So if your kids are about to start playing with the food again, it's best not to say anything! Perhaps the next Culinary Picasso will be sitting at your table.
